How Much Is Your Diamond Worth?

Sep 15, 2016 | Pawn Shop Tips

Selling a diamond or using it for a pawn loan is a popular way to get cash for your valuables.

Of course, the first thing you want to know is – how much is my diamond worth?

Following are some suggestions to help you with this process.

The basic measure for a diamond is know as the 4C’s:

CARAT: how much does the diamond weigh?
COLOR: does the diamond have a color?
CLARITY: can you see anything in the diamond?
CUT: how well does a diamond reflect light?

Additional items to consider include:

BRIGHTNESS: the amount of white light reflected
FIRE: the amount of rainbow color and flashes of light
SCINTILLATION: the amount of “sparkle” or contrast between light and dark areas

The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) sets many of the standards used to appraise a diamond. If you have a GIA certificate for your diamond, this is a great place to start. If not, a trained Gemologist can provide you with an appraisal and provide advice.

The Gemologists at New Liberty Loans Pawn Shop understand the importance of evaluating your diamond jewelry for a pawn loan, sale or purchase. Our trained staff will appraise your diamonds, answer all of your questions and discuss your options.

We also have a fine selection of diamond jewelry for sale if you would like to add to your collection.
